Ruthin.

RESIDENTS of Ruthin were shaken by up to four loud bangs.

People described hearing and feeling the bangs just after 10am on Thursday, with some saying the windows in their homes shook.

The noise was heard in the town centre, Glasdir, Bro Deg and Gellifor.

Lucy Jackson-Wyatt, of Glasdir, was at home with her four children when she heard the bangs.

She said: “Between 10.05 and 10.25 we heard four loud bangs, it sounded as if a bomb had gone off making the windows on our house shake.

Two of our children came running downstairs scared as they didn't know what the noise was and it was so loud.”

Suggestions for the source of the bangs have been thunder, the nearby police firearms range, or one of the effects of Storm Doris that battered North Wales and many other parts of the UK on Thursday. Some residents even suggested in was the sound of bins falling over in the wind.

Speaking on Facebook, Gavyn Edwards said: "Just heard the last one in Haulfryn. Is it something on the building site?”

Andy Cooper said: “Lighting in Gellifor, so probably that I imagine.

But town centre business owner Isaac Birchall said: “Weird sounding thunder if it is!”
