A mum was shocked to find she'd been given a parking ticket after a family trip despite having two hours left on her parking.
Maria Evans, 35, had been visiting Ruthin and had parked in the Market Street car park. As she didn't have enough change for the £1.50 charge at the pay and display machine, she used the mobile pay alternative, paying £2.20 for three hours.
After taking her children for a pot of tea she decided to visit Ruthin Gaol and had nipped back to the car for their jackets, when she discovered she had been given a ticket.
Maria, of Rhewl, said: “I've been driving for 15 years and never had a parking ticket before.
“We parked at 11.24am and it was valid until 3.24pm, but the ticket was issued by 11.54am, so they were quite quick really.
“I usually have change, but I didn't today so when I went to the pay point, I only had about 30p in change, so I decided to use their pay by mobile app.
“I was disappointed to see you pay more to use it than you would with cash, but even worse is you still get a ticket 15 minutes later.
“What is disappointing is this mobile pay service is a service they provide so it should be good, you shouldn't get tickets
“I phoned them to see if they could sort it out and they said that now I have to write to them, and I don't really have time to sort that out when it isn't my mistake.
“I have to write and they have to investigate, it's all a waste of time when I had paid for parking. It just seems so stupid."
Denbighshire County Council has been approached for comment.
