A motorist found dead in his car after it had apparently veered off the road died of head injuries, an inquest has been told.

Retired welder Gerald George Jacob’s BMW was spotted in woodland near the Ruthin-Mold road at Loggerheads at about midday on March 5.

But at the opening of an inquest in Ruthin yesterday John Gittins, the coroner for North Wales East and Central, said the single-vehicle collision might have occurred at about 7.30pm the previous day.

Mr Jacob, 66, of Mill View Road, Shotton, is believed to have been driving from Llanferres towards Loggerheads when his BMW left the road at Glan Aber Hall.

The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
