A PLANNING application to build 54 holiday lodges on the site of semi derelict hotel and golf course has been put forward.
The application, to build on the disused site of the Bryn Morfydd Hotel and Golf Club, Llanrhaeadr, also includes plans for a reception/information centre and a warden’s lodge.
The holiday lodges are in the form of timber clad units, the reception/information centre and warden’s lodge will also look the same externally.
The existing site forms part of the larger disused golf course which supported Bryn Morfydd Hotel, which was designed by famous golfers and was highly acclaimed for its quality.
The applicant and owner of the site - Mathew Jones, purchased the property back in July 2009 with the ‘principal intention’ to convert the property to residential use.
The site is said to be ‘extremely’ well screened by existing trees, and a well-used public footpath will be retained as part of the proposal.
The plans have been broken down into two phases, phase one will include 28 lodges, the reception and warden’s unit.
Phase two will include the last 26 lodges.
The reception lodge is intended primarily to ‘kick start’ the sales of the lodges.
The warden’s lodge would be used year round to provide accommodation for a manager of the site.
