THE delivery of giant sections of wind turbines along the A5 to Clocaenog Forest has begun as police warn motorists of months of traffic disruptions.

The delivery of 27 turbines to be stationed at the wind farm near Ruthin started on Monday, January 7 after the construction of the turbine foundation pours was completed by German energy company Innogy and Ruthin-based contractor Jones Bros in December.

On a Monday to Friday weekly schedule the heavy goods vehicle deliveries will depart from Ellesmere Port at 9.30am and travel along the A5 from Chirk and through Pentrefoelas.

The deliveries are expected to take place until July, subject to the availability of police escorts and prevailing traffic conditions.

Innogy said it hopes the later morning start will help the vehicles to avoid rush hour traffic.

However, North Wales Police's Roads Unit said the public should "please expect delays and allow extra time" for their journeys.

Innogy has set up a free text delivery alert service, which you can sign up to by texting the word CLOCAENOG to 88882.

Enquiries can be emailed to clocaenogwindfarm@innogy.com or alternatively call the project information number 0845 075 0415 during weekday office hours.
