THE clock is ticking for Amber Davies who has been immersed in rehearsals ahead of her West End debut in 9 to 5 the Musical.

The former Love Island champion, who attended Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St Asaph, will play Judy Bernly in the Dolly Parton-inspired West End premiere which is also starring Caroline Sheen, Natalie McQueen, Bonnie Langford and Brian Conley.

Due to injury, Louise Redknapp will join the show from late March 2019. Caroline Sheen will perform the role of Violet Newstead until Louise’s return.

Amber, originally from Denbigh, will take to the stage for opening night on Monday, January 28 and in the audience will be her proud mum, Susan Davies.

Speaking to the Journal, Susan said: “She is doing amazing and she cannot wait for opening night.

“Rehearsals are in full swing, 10am to 6pm six days a week. She really enjoys it as well.”

Amber recently met up with Dolly Parton, singer of the famed hit 9 to 5.

The former leading member of TiC (Theatre in the Community) drama group in Rhyl has her own show coming up on ITVBe which will document her journey from reality to the West End.

Susan added: “Amber absolutely loved meeting Dolly. She thought she was just incredible, fantastic, beautiful, very warm and down to earth.”

Amber, who has just moved into a new flat near London, joined Graham Norton on his Radio 2 show on January 12 alongside Bonnie.

Susan said: “She said she feels she has a lot to prove.

“She is 100 per cent focused on the musical and is putting all her energy into it. She is just enjoying life and doing what she loves. She is going to go out there and do her best and enjoy it.”

Louise has updated fans about her recovery following a fall where she fractured her wrist and injured her chin.

In a video message on Twitter, she said: “I’ve just seen a doctor. Chin is healing really well. I’m still quite sore.

“On my way to do a quick read through so I don’t lose my head. I want to say a massive thank you for all your support.”

Susan said: “Amber loves Louise. It was such a shame, but Caroline Sheen has stepped in.

“Caroline is amazing. She is very well known, very professional.

“She was in Mary Poppins.

“It is a job for Amber but also, a joy. I will be in the audience on opening night and on press night.”
