The annual festive pantomime at Rhyl Pavilion Theatre has been postponed until 2021 due to Covid-19.
After 23 years of performing in Rhyl, the pantomime is being postponed until Christmas 2021 to ensure the safety of staff and customers.
Producer Martin Dodd said: “This would have been our 23rd year of producing the Pavilion Theatre Christmas Pantomime and it is with deep sadness that we are having to make the decision to postpone Cinderella until next year.
"I know what a central part the pantomime plays in so many families Christmas’s, and we are always so grateful that so many turn out year after year to support this amazing theatre and our Christmas show.
"However in the light of the prevailing conditions we do not feel that we will be able to safely provide the high quality production that everybody has come to love and expect and we would be doing everyone a disservice if we had to scale it back.
"Regrettably, therefore together with Denbighshire Leisure we have had to come to this decision. However we will be back next year? …oh yes we will! ……and we very much look forward to seeing you all again.”
The decision to postpone the panto has been made jointly between UK Productions and Denbighshire Leisure Ltd.
Jamie Groves, Managing Director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, said: “At Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, the safety of our staff and customers is paramount and we will not compromise on the exceptional experience that our customers have come to expect from us across all of our sites.
"In the absence of any imminent or updated guidance, due to the preparation time required for the panto and the risk of incurring significant financial loss, we have no option but to postpone.
"We are pleased to announce that 98 per cent of all shows that were previously postponed in 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic have been rescheduled and are available to book.
"Despite the disappointment this year, we are determined to come back bigger and even stronger next year with some exciting new developments to look forward to at Rhyl Pavilion .
"When we have further guidance from the Welsh Government we will update our website and social pages with more information.”
