THE Vale of Clwyd’s Member of the Senedd has been elected as the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s champion for parliamentarians with disabilities at a virtual international conference, hosted by the Maltese Parliament.
Ann Jones MS has long been a passionate campaigner for people with disabilities across Vale of Clwyd and Wales as a whole.
The new role will allow her to provide experience and expertise to help the 185 Parliaments and Legislatures of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
Ann Jones MS said:“I’m delighted and honoured to have been elected to this new and important role. As a parliamentarian with a disability, I have been ready to speak out on issues that affect those who have different needs.
“I look forward to working with the other elected Parliamentarians with Disabilities across the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. I will be using the Senedd as an example of how an accessible parliament can look and operate, whilst also making sure we uphold our standards and look to glean best practice from other legislatures, internationally.”
