A RUTHIN County councillor is hoping 2021 will bring back 'some sort of normality'.
As Coronavirus restrictions continue over Christmas and into the new year, councillor Bobby Feeley hopes residents will get to spend time with their families following a challenging year for those in Denbighshire and beyond.
Cllr Feeley, Denbighshire County Council's cabinet lead member for health and well-being, said: "As we come towards the end of a difficult and challenging year, I would like to wish everyone a peaceful, healthy and happy Christmas. I hope that those of you who are able, will get to spend time with your families and enjoy some limited Christmas festivities.
"We can only hope 2021 will finally see an end to the pandemic and allow us to get back to some sort of normality.
"The pandemic has affected all of our lives, we have missed contact with our friends, family and colleagues, and the repercussions on the economy will be felt for many years to come.
"Can I reach out particularly to all those who live alone or care for loved ones, people who have struggled with their physical and mental health, or have had essential NHS treatment held up by the need to deal with Covid, and of course to anyone who has lost loved ones to Covid.
"I must pay tribute to all of those who have helped in anyway, by volunteering within their communities to help those in need, people have shown a sense of caring and thoughtfulness which has helped us all get through this difficult time.
"I would also like to thank the small band of people who run the Food bank here in Ruthin which has seen record levels of need, they have done an outstanding job, well done all.
"In conclusion, a huge thanks to all Denbighshire staff, and particularly those within my own portfolio: Adult Social Care, who have worked tirelessly to ensure all our residents get the care and help they need, and Denbighshire Leisure Ltd., who despite impossible trading conditions have stepped up to the plate, making as many facilities as possible available for use, and redeployed staff to help other services in time of need. In addition a deserved thank you to Heritage Services, a small, enthusiastic team, working constantly to enhance and improve our important and historic attractions.
