A CORWEN hairdresser says she is ‘over the moon’ that both herself and her salon have been selected as finalists in two separate categories at the 2021 UK Hair and Beauty Awards.
Georgia Cooper runs the Liberty Salon based on London Road.
She has recently been entered as a finalist in the 'Hairstylist of the Year' category for tthis year's UK Hair and Beauty Awards.
In addition, Libery has also made it into the finals in the 'Best Salon' category.
Speaking on the achievement, Georgia said: "I'm completely blown away. I am over the moon to just reach the finals. Whatever happens now, I’m absolutely ecstatic to have made it this far."
Georgia first moved from Shropshire to Denbighshire when she settled down in Ruthin in 2013. She moved to Corwen a year later.
She has been running the Liberty Salon since 2017, progressively building up its clientele.
Georgia said: "I started hairdressing when I was 14, two days a week. I went to Shropshire county training hairdressing college and as soon as I left school I found myself an apprenticeship and have worked ever since progressing though my levels.
"I’ve been hairdressing for 11years now. From a very young age I have enjoyed playing with hair, I was always brushing and playing with my mums hair, and I once chopped all my dolls hair off.
"I always knew what I wanted todo when I was older."
Georgia added that she now hopes she can 'continue with the success' at Liberty and hopes the salon will 'continue to receive the support' it has been getting during the Covid-19 pandemic.
She said: "Small businesses like mine are at risk of permanent closure. I hope things will change very soon as I can not wait to be back in my salon and continue to hopefully keep pleasing my clientele, as well as new clients."
The UK Hair and Beauty Awards is a well-recognised competition throughout the UK and has around 17,000 followers on Instagram.
Category winners are set to be announced virtually next month.
