A BALA-BASED construction firm is currently using an innovative recycled plastic mix on its latest project in Denbighshire.

Williams Homes is a family run business located in Bala which prides itself on doing its bit for the planet.

Now, along with utilizing reduced carbon, low concrete slabs and recycled aggregate, the firm says it is ‘incredibly pleased’ to be using road resurfacing containing recycled plastic content at the new 63 plot development in Glasdir, Ruthin.

They are carrying out the project as part of the Welsh Government Innovative Housing Programme and in collaboration with ClwydAlyn.

Adding the recycled plastic product makes it more hardwearing.

Williams Homes has already used the equivalent of about 500k plastic bottles or 1M single-use plastic bags in their first pour on site in Ruthin alone. The plastic used would have been destined for landfill.

Joint M.D. for Williams Homes, Owain Williams said: “As part of our ongoing commitment to making our projects more sustainable, we are always on the lookout for great innovations such as this.

“By the end of the project, we will have used the equivalent of approximately 6m single use plastic bottles destined for landfill.”
