A POPULAR event in the Denbighshire calendar, which returned earlier this month after a year out due to Covid-19 in 2020, has collected more than £2,500 for charity.
The much-loved Vale of Clwyd Tractor Run returned to action on Sunday, June 6.
The last event of its kind before it in 2019 was the largest one to date with 66 tractor owners gathering at Denbigh Rugby Club to exhibit their trusty vehicles.
This time around, tractors once again set off from the town’s Rugby Club for 9.30am before heading off on a 25-mile route around the vale and through the likes of Henllan, Groes and Nantglyn.
The 2021 Tractor Run was again held in conjunction with the DPJ Foundation which raises awareness for and provides support for those with mental health issues working in the agricultural and rural sectors.
The event collected more than £2,500 - all of which will go to the DPJ.
A statement from the Vale of Clwyd Tractor Run organisers read: “We are proud to say that with your help we’ve raised over £2,500 for the DPJ foundation and there is still more money coming in.
“Thanks to all the people who helped make the run both safe and fun. Thanks also to our sponsors including Hafod Renewable Energy, ProCam County Crops, Clwyd Caravan Storage, Meirion Davies Agricultural Merchants, PR Signs, Wynnstay Group Plc and Townsend Supplies.
“Plus the many many others who sent money in via JustGiving or made a contribution on the day."
The Vale of Clwyd Tractor Run has previously helped other charities such as the Wales Air Ambulance and St Kentigern's raise some much needed funding through the event.
The event also helps to promote the iconic Agricultural machinery which have become synonymous with Denbighshire down the years.
Residents of any age or gender can take part in the Tractor Run and organisers also encourage a good mix of Vintage, Heritage and Modern Tractors to go on show throughout the day.
Participating tractor drivers pay a £10 entry fee to go towards the total sum raised and there is normally live entertainment, raffles and more held during the event to keep guests entertained.
The JustGiving page on behalf of the DPJ Foundation is still open for donations.
