DENBIGH Carnival's Scarecrow competition was a rousing success once more this year.
Last year, several scarecrows - some even portraying famous faces - were placed around the town in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, giving the community a boost.
That was the first event of its kind held by the carnival committee and after proving popular, attracting more than 50 entries, it returned for 2021 last month.
Between June 25 and 27, scarecrows could be seen scattered all around Denbigh once more.
Happy Gardener by Denbigh in Bloom took first place prize in the competition whilst Carnival Queen by Bev Humphries was the runner-up.
Ann Smith, a Denbigh Carnival volunteer for the last five years, said: "The Carnival Committee members were pleased to see that the competition was popular once again and it was lovely to see entries received from Denbigh in Bloom and Ty Gobaith Charity shop.
"The theme this year was Happiness is or Summer time and the detail in many of the entries was outstanding.
"The Carnival committee would like to express their appreciation to everyone who supported the competition. We have our fingers crossed for a return to a full Carnival in 2022."
Judges were the Mayor of Denbigh Cllr Rhys Thomas and Rachel Hughes from Brookhouse Dog Kennels who kindly sponsored the event.
Members of the public can find further pictures from the Scarecrow competition on the Carnival Facebook site and on the Denbighshire Free press website.
