IT SOUNDS too good to be true but a hotel is on the hunt for a chief relaxation officer.
After discovering that 33 per cent of people from Wales failed to claim their full holiday allowance in 2020, with this year looking set to be even worse, Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel has launched a search for one weary worker in the hope of giving them an opportunity of a lifetime.
The role will consist of relaxing and unwinding at Warner Leisure hotels for free.
In return, the company will ask the 'chief relaxation officer' to keep them posted on their experience throughout three complimentary stays.
Terry Stirling, general manager at Bodelwyddan Castle, said: “We reckon we’re the county’s best place to unwind, so we wanted to find someone to put our wonderful hotel to the test – and it sounds like lots of Welsh people really need it.
“Our study found that, as bad as last year was for people taking annual leave, this year is set to be equally bleak – with 24 per cent of people prepared to ditch their holidays altogether in favour of extra pay.
“At Bodelwyddan Castle we couldn’t disagree more – annual leave isn’t a luxury, it’s essential. Even a short break can help us to pause, reset and reconnect with loved ones. That’s why we’re looking for someone with weeks of unclaimed holiday to give them much needed breaks throughout the year."
Earlier this year, the leisure group which owns Haven and Warner Leisure Hotels became the official owners of Bodelwyddan Castle.
Denbighshire County Council acquired the lease on the Grade II listed castle for less than half the asking price; the trust, which ran the castle, museum and art gallery, had 99 years remaining of a 125-year lease which was valued at more than £1m.
The lease was put up for sale after the trust was forced to close. This followed the loss of its £144,000 council grant.
The council sold the freehold interest in the hotel - next to the castle - to Bourne Leisure (a subsidiary of Warner Leisure Hotels) who purchased the freehold interest in the castle.
To apply, Visit warnerleisurehotels.co.uk/offers/annual-leave-lost before 11.59pm on August 15 and explain in 100 words or less why you, or someone you love, should become the hotel’s first chief relaxation officer.
