A PLASTICS manufacturer based in Saint Asaph is facing a staff walk-out after the company withdrew from pay negotiations.
Goodfish is facing strike action after members of the GMB and Unite trade unions voted to take industrial action following the company's decision to walk away from pay talks.
Hard-working staff were looking for a small pay increase after accepting last year’s pay freeze due to the economic uncertainty thrown up by the COVID-19 pandemic.
But despite the global uplift, Goodfish has claimed there is no money for a pay rise this year, while simultaneously advertising for new staff and offering a bonus scheme.
The first date of strike action is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13.
GMB has urged the company to give members a ‘fair reward’ after taking the hit during the pandemic.
Alyn Thomas, GMB regional organiser, said: “The fact of the matter is that the cost of living is going up, and our members just can’t afford not to have a pay increase.
“We were told that the company had no money for a pay rise, but then they look to take on more supervisors and offer a bonus scheme. It just doesn’t add up.
“Members took the hit for the company during the pandemic. Now trade is picking up, it’s the company’s turn to give members a fair reward for their efforts.
“Goodfish need to get back round the table and give their staff the fair pay rise they deserve.”
Goodfish has been approached for comment.
