A POPULAR walking event in Llangollen will return next year, once again helping to raise money for an important charity.
The Llangollen Round Challenge was last held in 2018, when 400 walkers from across the UK collected an incredible £65,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Next year's event will again be held in support of that charity and will take place on May 28 and 29.
A statement from event organisers Llangollen Round Table read: "It is more than 50 years since a committee supporting Cancer Research was first established in Llangollen. The name may have changed once or twice over the years, but the dedication to the cause is the same.
"The current committee for Cancer Research UK in Llangollen organises several fundraising events every year and The Llangollen Round Challenge is the biggest of those events. Held triennially it is a venture realised through the inspiration, hard work and generous sponsorship of local people and businesses."
The walk starts and finishes at the Leisure Centre, Dinas Bran School.
You can enter for either the one day or the two day event. One day entrants will need to complete the 35 miles within 15 1/2 hours on the Saturday. Two day entrants will need to complete 17.5 miles in 11 hours on both days.
All participants will receive a certificate and a medal.
The event includes sections of moorland rising to 630m above sea level. Paths are not difficult underfoot but total ascent and descent is around 2000m and so suitable clothing and footwear is essential.
Entry to the event is now open on: register.enthuse.com/ps/event/TheLlangollenRound2022
