THERE are two bloomin' marvellous reasons for a Vale of Clwyd group to be cheerful.
Denbigh will represent Wales in the Britain in Bloom competition later this year, while in 2023, the town will play host to the Wales in Bloom awards ceremony.
Lyndsey Tasker, chairman of Denbigh in Bloom, said: "This is a huge honour for our town with approximately 150 people from across Wales attending the event.
"It's our chance to show Denbigh off to its very best and highlight not only it's wonderful history, but also the incredible community spirit we have here too.
"Naturally, we want to make this event one which our visitors won't forget, so we have plenty of planning to do and things to organise!
"We've already booked the town hall in which to host the ceremony as it's centrally located and offers nearby parking."
The Wales in Bloom awards ceremony switches yearly between north and south Wales.
Last year, it was held in Beaumaris, with the 2022 event to be held in Talgarth.
Meanwhile, Britain in Bloom has announced its 2022 UK finalists for this summer's competition.
Following a two-year hiatus, the UK finals return for 2022 with 46 community gardening groups looking to wow judges this summer.
This year, finalists will be judged according to strengthened environmental criteria that will help them to consider sustainability issues and implement planet-friendly gardening techniques within their community projects.
In the towns category, Denbigh will be up against Chatteris, in Cambridgeshire; Burgh Beautiful Linlithgow, West Lothian; Upton in Bloom, Dorset and Amersham, in Buckinghamshire.
Lyndsey added: "Denbigh has been asked to represent Wales in Britain in Bloom this year.
"We will be taking part in the Wales in Bloom competition in July and then we've got to keep the displays up until August.
"We started in 2016, but it just shows the amount of work that volunteers have put in.
"We don't have many volunteers, but the work they do is amazing.
"It shows the Wales in Bloom judges have got faith in us."
