A DENBIGHSHIRE actor has been enjoying the lights and glamour of the West End.
It's fair to say that Tracy Spencer certainly didn't expect to be back on stage in the West End so soon.
Last week, she assumed a role in the smash hit Saturday Night Fever, made famous in the 1970s film of the same name starring John Travolta.
Tracy, who is a director of charity The Denbigh Workshop, said: "I received a call from a producer at Bill Kenwright's office on Sunday asking my availability for the week.
"I'd assumed it was for Blood Brothers in Manchester, having performed in the show for many years and stepping in last minute in September last year, but no it was for Saturday Night Fever, as Flo, Tony's mum, a show I've never seen let alone played!"
Tracy was amongst the first year to graduate from LIPA, the Paul McCartney fame school in Liverpool in 1998, where students are taught to remain calm in any given situation.
This certainly would come in handy for Tracy!
"I had a couple of hours line learning in London at BKL headquarters and then on stage rehearsal with full cast at 3pm.
"Thankfully they didn't expect me to do the dancers track as even the finale bows are a full-on seven-minute dance routine.
"The whole cast and tech team were so supportive. I feel in safe hands."
Having trained at LIPA, Tracy went on to appear in the West End, rep and fringe, and had small roles on TV in Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
Since marrying another local actor Sean Jones, who's currently back on tour as Mickey in Blood Brothers at the Palace in Manchester, she has been busy with The Denbigh Workshop, a community arts charity she co-founded.
They're working with TRAC Wrexham to offer careers support to young people, a youth theatre in Denbigh and delivering two choirs - Denbigh Community Choir and the Dementia Choir.
"Luckily for me, as it's half-term and I was off for the week, just as well really, when an opportunity like this comes calling you grab it with both hands," added Tracy.
"I'm always telling my Saturday youth theatre students to be professional and above all be ready for anything, but this is something else!
"I feel incredibly lucky to be back on stage after the last few years.
"The theatre industry has taken such a hit, but what better way to return to the stage than to get them dancing in the aisles to iconic Bee Gee songs."
Tracy sang Too Much Heaven with two other cast members during her run in the show, which ended on Sunday.
She explained: "I learnt the song today in the theatre bar with such gorgeous harmonies though I realised I've been singing the words wrong all these years... I'd better get them right on Wednesday!"
Tracy appeared as Flo Manero in Bill Kenwright's Saturday Night Fever at the Peacock Theatre in the West End from last Wednesday until Sunday, February 27.
It is based on the 1976 hit John Travolta film of the same name.
Saturday Night Fever tells the story of Tony Mareno and his devil-may-care journey to dancing his way to the top.
"Of course it's set in New York, and their an Italian American family so there's the accent to think about too. I suppose I do love a challenge," added Tracy.
