RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports prime hoggets to £139 / 286.5ppk and ewes to £215.
Prime hoggs (auctioneer-Rich Lloyd):
Another show of 872 prime hoggets, predominantly Welsh bred and a very good SQQ on the week of 255ppk and 252.2ppk overall.

A total of 420 ewes and rams entered.
Once again, a brisk trade on all ewes and rams with 968 sold in total.
Few consignments of Welsh in with an overall average of £83.42.
Rams also in demand with a top price of £215 for a Texel tup from EJ & JE Rees, Pant Idda.

FORWARD on the day were 231 store lambs, cull ewes, couples and pet lambs.
A total of 127 store lambs sold to £117/head or 287p/kg, with an average of 232.77p/kg.
Meanwile, 11 cull ewes were sold.
Ewes sold to £121/head - Average £81.82/head and 91 Couples sold to £81.67/life. Average - £53.90/life.
Two pet lambs sold to £5/head.
Store Lambs (127):
Overall average – 232.77p/kg.
Super Lights sold to 227p/kg or £53.30/head. Average - 220.56p/kg.
Lights sold to 287p/kg or £86/head. Average - 265.63p/kg.
Standards sold to 274p/kg or £100/head. Average - 261.23p/kg.
Mediums sold to 260p/kg or £104/head. Average - 244.95p/kg.
Heavies sold to 194p/kg or £89/head. Average - 193.48p/kg.
Overweights sold to 211p/kg or £117/head. Average - 210.81p/kg.

RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 93 heifers to £1380; 114 steers to £1400; 91 calves to £450; 71 stirks to £910; 10 OTMs to £1377 / 221ppk; two cows and calves to £1200; 226 store lambs to £120; 25 in-lamb ewes to £135; 102 ewes and lambs to £280; and 51 pet lambs to £16.
Store cattle (auctioneer-Rich Lloyd):
Some 381 head of cattle comprising of: 12 barren cows; 91 calves; 71 weanlings; 93 heifers and 114 steers.
Stronger and quality cattle remain an excellent trade, but longer term turnout cattle certainly took an adjustment.
Less farmers about the ring and fertiliser prices by now perhaps taking its toll on longer term cattle.
Still a very good turnout of cattle, with a mixture of all shapes and sizes.

Top price of the day went to G J Wynne & Co, Hendre Glan Alwen, £1380 for a 16 month Lim.

Majority of calves comprised of younger sorts which met a firm trade with plenty of buyers present.
Top price went to G Roberts, Bryn Eryr selling a Charolais bull calf for £450.

Real strong demand as the sun continues to shine, keep the numbers coming!
Top price went to Owen, Nant Lewis Alyn selling an 11 month AA bullock to £910 with a 11 month old Lim bullock to £890.
