A FLINTSHIRE-born actor has been knighted for his services to acting and to charity.
Sir Jonathan Pryce was born in Carmel and was educated at Holywell Grammar School.
The 74-year-old began acting in the 1970's and has gone on to win two Tony Awards, as well as two Laurence Olivier Awards.

In 2019, Sir Pryce earned his first Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Pope Francis in The Two Popes alongside Anthony Hopkins playing Pope Benedict XVI.
He has also appeared in other hugely-popular titles such as Pirates of the Carribean as 'Governor Weatherby Swann' and as 'The High Sparrow' in Game Of Thrones.
In June 2021, it was announced that Sir Pryce would be receiving a Knighthood, and on Tuesday, April 5 he was officially knighted during an investiture held at Windsor Castle and led by Princess Anne.
When his knighthood was announced in the Queen's Birthday honours last June, Pryce said he was "proud".

Over his 50-year career, he has played Hamlet, acted on Broadway and starred in a long list of films.
Sir Pryce has supported several charities over the years including Amnesty International, Epilepsy Action and Neurofibromatosis Association.
