RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of prime lambs to £146 / 366.2ppk; prime hoggets to £136 / 242.5ppk and ewes to £170.
Prime lambs (auctioneer-Rich Lloyd):
Numbers now increasing weekly with an entry of 679 prime lambs on the day and a good trade throughout.
A total of 130 lights in the entry at 299.1ppk with 374 standards at 311.6ppk.
Mediums more sought after and a very pleasing 322.6ppk, but only 163 in the entry on the day.
SQQ 312.7p and overall 311.6p.

A good show of 600 cull ewes on the day with trade as strong as ever, every shape and size were in demand.
The best of the Welsh to £85 with the strongest Crossbred ewes to £170.
Lots of ewes still in their wool so don’t be afraid to send them, they are in demand!

Store cattle (auctioneer-Rich Lloyd):
A seasonal entry and silage weather not helping with the entry on the day, but certainly helping with the trade.
An excellent trade once again with more required weekly to meet the present demand.
Heifers topping at £1,550 for a 27 month Limousin from O P Evans, Maen Farm.
Some other prices: 25 month BB £1,390; 21 month BB £1,240; 21 month Lim £830; 14 month Lim £1,255; Overall average £995.38p.
Steers:
Steers topping at £1,445 for a 23 month Simmental from HL & EA Williams & Daughter, Tyddyn Chambers.
Fewer in numbers but trade holding firm.

Top price went to I Rowlands, Ty Coch with a 7 month Sim Heifer selling for £800.
Others:
11 month BAx bullocks to £750; 7 month BAx bullocks to £710; 7 months Sim heifers to £700; 11 month AA bullocks to £630; 6 month BRB heifers to £505; Overall average £590.

An entry of seven cows & calves forward with 100 per cent clearance.
Hereford 3rd calver with a Her heifer calf at foot to £1,300.
BB Aged Cow with heifer calve at foot to £1,180.
Sim Aged Cow with heifer calf at Foot to £1,170.
Bulls (auctioneer-Dafydd Parry):
A total of five breeding bulls were forward on the day with 100 per cent clearance.
18month old Lim from R G Whitley, Spon Farm 2,700gns.
25month old Lim from C M Edwards, Bryn Rodyn 2,600gns - 1850gns and 1,600gns.
38month old BSH from RD & K Roberts, Garth Isaf 2,150gns.

A small but tidy show of 35 couples forward on the day with demand still strong.
Top price of £192 went to D Evans, Cefn Llaeth Faen with Lleyn twins.
Top price of £178 went to C W Davies, Coed y Bryn with Mule singles.
Singles: Average £134.67p; Texel to £125; Welsh to £118; Crossbred to £118.
Doubles: Average £157.33p; Crossbred to £165; Overall Average £138.44p.

RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 1938 prime lambs to £180 / 442.1ppk; 118 prime hoggets to £168 / 312ppk and 982 ewes to £212.
Prime lambs (auctioneer-Elfor Morris):
A total of 1,938 lambs forward with the majority being standard weights.
In fact, 929 lambs averaged 36kg to a per head trade of £112.
This probably had a knock-on effect on the mediums, only 767 to average of a pleasing 318ppk.
A total of 110 light at 30kg at 270ppk and the remainder of the yard as heavies topping the money at £144.
Trade on the best still very good with many from 380ppk to 440ppk.
Overall sale average 311ppk, SQQ 312ppk.
