RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 199 prime lambs to £113 / 270.3ppk and 308 ewes to £124.
Prime lambs (auctioneer-Elfor Morris):
Less numbers about at the end of a turbulent week trade wise with 486 lambs forward to a pleasing SQQ of 230ppk.
Heavy lambs still achieving from £100 to £113 and the best of the 34kg to 40kg lambs from 240ppk to 260ppk.

48kg at £113 by Sion Jones, Cefn Eithin.

A total of 308 ewes forward on the day to an average of £64.29.

RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of one bull to 3150gns; 12 cows & calves to £1420; Heifers to £1420; 64 steers to £1660; 20 OTMs to £1467.80 / 272ppk; 60 calves to £460; 26 stirks to £800; 50 rams to £1020gns; 380 store lambs to £100 and 239 store ewes to £164.
Store cattle (auctioneer-Rich Lloyd):
A very good entry for the time of year with 119 store cattle forward on the day meeting a very good trade.
Some resistance in grazing cattle as expected, but forward cattle an excellent trade.
A total of 36 heifers topping at £1420 for a 25 month Charolais heifer from G & E Price, Fron Heulog, with another at £1365.
28 month Sim-£1600; 18 month BB-£1400; 19 month Lim-£1370; 25 month Char-£1265.
Overall average £919.86.
Meanwhile, 64 steers were forward topping at £1660 for a 22 month BB steer from Mrs C M Jones, Cae Isa.
28 month Sim-£1600; 23 month BB-£1355; 26 month Char -£1145; 19 month AA-£1140; 23 month Her-£1120; 22 month WB-£820.
Overall average £1149.66.

A four-year-old Lim bull from D E Lloyd,Red House Farm sold to 3150gns.
Cows & calves (auctioneer-Dafydd Parry):
A BB 1st calver with a Lim calf at foot from E Morris, Cader sold to £1420.
A Her 1st calver with a Her calf at foot from Jones, Glan Gwna sold to £1180.
21 month Lim bulling heifers from Jones, Tal y Cafn sold to £1240.
The next breeding sale is on August 11.
Dairy cattle (auctioneer-Dafydd Parry):
Crossbred in calf and bulling heifers forward met a pleasing trade considering the lack of grass.
In calf crossbred heifers to Friesian stock bulls due to calve March onwards sold to £550.
The next sale is on August 25.
A special entry already entered to include in-calf HF heifers.
Calves (auctioneer-Dafydd Parry):
A much younger selection of calves forward which met a pleasing trade.
Those better, shapier calves - no matter what the age - sold to a premium.
Top price went to Jarman, Gwern Hefin selling a Lim bull calf to £460.
Lim heifers to £385; AA heifers to £230; AA bulls to £300; Her heifers to £300; Her bulls to £300; HF bulls to £70.
Weanlings (auctioneer-Dafydd Parry):
Quality suckler bred types forward met a very firm trade. More are required.
Top price of £800 went to G L Jones, Gelligriafolen for an 8 month old Lim heifer.
Other prices:
11 month Lim heifers £785; 8 month Char bullock £760; 3 month Lim bullocks £585; 2 month Lim heifers £510.
More are required on a weekly basis.
Store ewes (auctioneer-Paul Roberts):
A brisk trade on all sponging ewes with plenty of buyers in attendance, even although there's a lack of grass.
Top price of £164 went to D S Faulkner for 2 tooth Texel ewes.
Texel full mouth-£143; Texel 2&3 year old-£142; Texel broken mouth-£116; Dorset-£125; Mule full mouth-£118; Lleyn full mouth-£152; Aberfield-£112.
Store lambs (auctioneer-Elfor Morris):
A total of 383 store lambs forward, with trade a little more difficult to reflect the prime lamb trade during the week, but nevertheless there were buyers for all types.
Top price went to E A Sarmiento achieving £100 for crossbred ram lambs.
Suffolk to £77; Welsh to £56; Texel ram lambs to £92.
Breeding rams (auctioneer-Dafydd Parry):
Trade on fire from start to finish with a ring full of buyers from near and far, creating strong demand.
Quality rams forward met an overall average of £576.31.
Texel and Beltex shearling rams from D Faulkner sold for 1020gns, 950gns and 750gns (three times).

RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 1,751 prime lambs to £128 / 315.8ppk and 684 ewes to £164.
Prime lambs (auctioneer-Elfor Morris):
A total of 1,751 lambs forward to an overall average of 241ppk.
Medium and heavy lambs returned the best averages at 244ppk, with standards at 236ppk or £86.95/head.
A two tier trade with the well fleshed lambs still commanding a premium.
