WITH pubs under enormous pressure due to rising costs, the Dudley Arms in Llandrillo has made moves to ensure its doors remain open.

Opening hours have been reduced at the village pub, but it will remain open - and continue to offer its support to the local community.

In a message on its Facebook page, the Dudley Arms explained: "We have heard lots of rumours going around, so this message is to let everyone know what our actual plans are.

"Costs have been increasing across all areas, and shortages of staff are causing major issues across this industry.

"We have a new chef and we are going to be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday for food and drinks, 5pm to 9pm for food service Friday / Saturday, 12pm to 4pm on Sunday.

"The bar will be open Thursday 6pm to 11pm, Friday and Saturday 5pm to 11pm, and Sunday 12pm to 6pm.

"With winter approaching and the huge increase of costs we simply can't afford to open outside of these times.

"We have suffered three major price increases since we opened in February, which we haven't passed onto our customers."

Dudley Arms' owner Lucy Ruffy said: "They are reduced hours. We can't afford to open on Tuesday and Wednesday. These hours are to ensure the pub remains open.

"There's so many pubs closing each week now."

Supporting the local community remains a key issue for the pub and Lucy added: "We are keen to do the pool and the darts.

"The company itself is one of the main sponsors of Corwen Football Club. We also do charity events. We do what we can."

Pool will still be available on Thursday evenings, while darts will be the following evening.

"We are doing our utmost to maintain all community ties," added Lucy.

"Please get behind your local so that we can support each other into the future."

The Dudley Arms is also continuing to offer bed-and-breakfast and cottage accommodation.
