CONCERNS over the naming of a new Denbighshire development have led to a change in its name.
Work has started on a £2.2 million-plus development at the former Bryn Morfydd Hotel, in Llanrhaeadr.
Initially named as Oak View Lodge Park, the site is offering families the chance to own a holiday lodge and enjoy staycations in its rural location.
However, due to local concerns over its title, developer Jamie Hughes has moved to ensure the name of the site will be changed.
“We have been working hard to ensure that we stay true to the local area," said Mr Hughes, who has 25 years of experience in the holiday home and lodge industry.
"However, we recently received several comments online from the local community concerning the renaming of the site.
"On reflection we accept that this was a mistake, so we have renamed the site to Oak View Lodge Park at Bryn Morfydd to ensure the legacy of Bryn Morfydd continues.”
The hotel and the surrounding park area closed in January 2009 and later fell into disrepair.

Mr Hughes said: “With the support of the Development Bank of Wales we will be able to bring this prominent site back to its former glory.”
High speed fibre broadband, private hot tubs and other pampering touches such as an on-site concierge service are available for holiday homeowners.
Mr Hughes said there had already been high levels of interest from prospective lodge owners.
“We started work less than six months ago and last month we sited our first luxury lodge for a customer,” he added.
“Bryn Morfydd provides a glorious rural setting in amongst a park of mature oak trees with stunning views over the Vale of Clwyd.
"Seeing the view again from the old hotel was the main reason I wanted to invest in the site and share it with others.”
A total of 20 lodges are available in the phase one release with prices starting from £225,000.
