A COMMUNITY initiative to help keep residents warm this winter has received blanket support.
The Denbighshire uniform exchange, supported by Denbigh Town Council, has purchased hundreds of blankets, which will be given to town residents this week.
The scheme is running four events where people can pick up a blanket this week.
There will be blanket pick-up points at Denbigh Library this Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, between 2pm and 4pm.
In addition, a further session will be at Hwb Dinbych on Thursday, December 15 between 2.30 and 4.30pm.
More than 300 blankets have been purchased, with support being offered by Denbigh's Morrisons store.

Catherine Jones, a town councillor and scheme co-ordinator, said: "The town council wanted to do something and it's difficult to know what we can do and to do it in a hurry."
"The idea came for blankets," added Cllr Jones.
"To get it quickly, if Denbigh uniform exchange apply to the town council grant funding, that would be the easiest option.
"They applied for £2,000 from the grant money and the council backed it 100 per cent.
"We spoke to the manager at Morrisons asking would he be able to purchase 333 blankets. That would be £2,000.
"They gave us £70 off and so we were able to buy more blankets."
This week, town councillors and the town clerk will be at the sessions to hand out blankets to residents.
"We've had a couple of people get in touch asking for help," added Cllr Jones.
"People are too scared to use electricity, so people are putting layers and blankets on.
"It's open to everybody who feels they're affected by the crisis.
"We will just ask for their postcode and name for future reference."
Cllr Jones added: "As a town council, we have been trying to find ways of helping people and it's difficult.
"We realised we needed to do something immediately.
"We have put posters all around town and we will put it on social media."
