RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 2,127 prime lambs to £140 / 297.4ppk and 183 cull ewes to £116.
Prime lambs (auctioneer-Richard Lloyd):
A tally of 2,127 lambs forward and a total of 4,813 prime lambs for the week.
The day saw a very pleasing trade and average of 241.1ppk.
Medium lambs section topped the sale with 477 lambs averaging 250.0ppk.
All weight categories saw an increase on the week, with all types in demand.

Overall average £60.11.

Ruthin store and breeding stock sale - December 15
RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 12 OTM cattle; 16 heifers; 14 steers; four stirks; 35 calves; four cows & calves; 982 store lambs and two Valais black nose lambs.
Store cattle (auctioneer-Richard Lloyd):
A good trade throughout once again,
Heifers averaged £970, topping at £1,090 for three Brit Blue x heifrs from I L Roberts, Parc.
23m Limousin to £995; 21m Charolais to £970.
Steers averaged £1,247.92, topping at £1,370 for a 22 months Limousin from Dwyfor Roberts, Pentre Smithy.

OTM cattle:
A good trade once again on the OTM cattle.
Welsh Black selling to £1,306.70; Bazedeize to £1,296.00; Hereford to £1,187.70; Limousin to £986.00; Hereford to 222.0ppk; Welsh Black to 180.0 ppk; Bazedeize to 180.0 ppk.
Calves (auctioneer-Dafydd Parry):
Less about due to weather conditions and the time of the year.
Prices: Lim bull to £195; Brit Blue bull to £180; Lim Heifer to £145.
Weanlings:
As with the calves, less about due to the weather but still plenty of buyers looking for weanlings.
Simmental x 13 month fron D T Jones, Bryn Rhyd selling for £535 with Friesian to £455.
Cows & calves (auctioneer-Dafydd Parry):
Strong demand continues in the cow and calf section with a Charolais cow with calf at foot from Sion Roberts, Porth y Post, achieving £1,210 and a Longhorn cow with calf at foot eventually selling for £1,200.
Store lambs (auctioneer-Elfor Morris):
Still a very good entry of 982 store lambs on the day despite the weather conditions. Strongest of the Texel x ewe lambs up to £88, with ram lambs to £87 and clean Texel lambs to £86.
Strongest Welsh tup lambs to £68 with the majority either side of the £40 mark.
Store lambs selling to less hands on the day with some long term lambs looking good value for money.
Pedigree lambs (auctioneer-Paul Roberts):
There was a special entry of Valais blacknose ewe lambs which created a lot of interest pre-sale and during the sale, and eventually sold for £960 each.

RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 2,689 prime lambs to £146 / 331.8ppk and 366 ewes to £180.
Prime lambs (auctioneer-Elfor Morris):
A total of 2,689 lambs forward on the day, with a very consistent trade throughout.
All in all, it was a very good show of lambs.
SQQ 244ppk or £101/head all in.
A sharper trade on standards and lights during week, helping the overall average.
A terrific yard of 1,815 mediums and heavies rewarded with an overall average of 246ppk.
