RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 1,934 prime hoggets to £129 / 282.1ppk and 276 ewes to £150.
Prime hoggets (auctioneer-Elfor Morris):
A total of 1,925 lambs in on the day with greater resistance than seen in a while.
SQQ 231ppk and an overall average of 230ppk.
Every weight range probably back 10ppk with standards at 228ppk, mediums 235ppk, lights 207ppk, heavies 230ppk and overweights meeting most resistance at 212ppk.

RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 1,239 prime hoggets to £130 / 282.5ppk, 341 ewes to £220 and 149 store pigs to £110.
Prime hoggets (auctioneer-Rich Lloyd):
An increased entry on the day of 1,239 prime hoggets met a slightly easier trade on the week and an SQQ of 232ppk, as well as an overall average of 231.9ppk.
A total of 238 lights in the entry at 214ppk, but the mediums were still in keen demand at 242.2ppk.
Average weight on the day of 37kg throughout.

58kg at £130 by R J Tudor, Plas Newydd.
46kg at £127 by GW & DM Owen, Noddfa.
50.5kg at £127 by P E Parish, Firs Farm.
Top priced per kilo:
40kg at 282ppk by A & DD Evans, Cae Gwyn.

Top priced ewes went to D Faulkner, Penlan Farm at £180 for Texel ewes.

Store pigs (auctioneer-Elfor Morris):
A total of 149 store pigs forward on the day with most being weaners.
They were a slightly sharper trade, especially the well bred, shapely ones.
Bunches of gilts still commanding a premium over pens of boars with the best of gilts from £28 to £39.
Boars, meanwhile, were harder to place from £2 to £38.
Store pigs a brisk trade, and again quality pigs sold well.
Best gilts to £100, strong boars to £60.
In pig Pietrain sow to £110 and cull sows topping at £45.

RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 10 OTMs to £1292 / 181ppk; 46 heifers to £1405; 15 steers to £1325; 41 stirks to £1105; 104 calves to £380; 1409 store lambs to £100; 232 breeding ewes to £245 and 111 ewe & lamb couples to £315.
Store cattle (auctioneer-Rich Lloyd):
An excellent start to the New Year with an entry of 112 store cattle forward with good entries now expected weekly.
A total of 46 heifers forward with an overall average of £1050.33.
Top price of £1405 went to G B Jones & Co, Fron Bella, selling a 21 month Lim.
Others:
20 month Lim £1290; 31 month BB £1225; 26 Her £1140; 18 month Lim £1110; 18 month BB £1095.
A tally of 15 steers forward with an overall average of £1199.33.
Top price of £1325 went to RE & GA Roberts, Tyddyn Inco selling a 17 month Lim.

28 month BB £1310; 19 month Lim £1260; 15 month Lim £1040; 21 month Her £1000.

Top price went to JM & GM Graham, Groesfaen, with a 145 month Lim weighing 760kg going for £1292.
Top price per kilo went to JE & GE & D Hughes, Bryn Celynnog - an 87 month Lim weighing 480kg going for 181ppk.

Over 100 calves in Ruthin met a buoyant trade.

Top price went to Jones, Llwyn Mafon selling an 18 month old Lim bullock to £1105.
5 month Hereford bullock to £430; 6 month BB heifer to £590; 6 month Lim heifer to £550; 7 month old Lim bulls to £650; 12 month AA bullock to £600.

A total of 232 in lambs forward.
In lamb ewes in demand with plenty of buyers present.
Top price of £245 went to Roberts, Caerhun for two pens of Suffolk 2 year old ewes and an overall consignment average of £212.

Numbers back out with a terrific show of 1407 store lambs forward to a stronger trade.
Short term heavy Texel ram lambs from £90 to £100, with the strongest ewe lambs from £88 to £93.
Longer keep lambs from £70 to £85 with the best grazing type lambs from £35 to £65. Strongest Welsh ram lambs from £46 to £75.
