MUSIC will help a Denbighshire mayor to raise funds for worthy causes next month.
Mayor of Ruthin Cllr Menna Jones is organising a fundraising concert at Theatr John Ambrose on March 3.
Topping the bill will be Godre’r Aran male voice choir, from the Bala area.
The mayor’s good causes this year include Cymorth Rhuthun / Ruthin Support and Vale of Clwyd First Responders.
"We are delighted to welcome Cor Godre’r Aran to Ruthin once again," said Cllr Jones.
"While in the past few years, community events such as concerts have not been able to take place, hopefully this event will bring the community together at the time of celebrations here in Wales for our national day in the company of one of Wales’ best male voice choirs."

While the choir was founded in 1949 as a cerdd dant singing party, it has over time transformed into a male voice choir.
Since 1975, it has been led by Eirian Owen.
The choir has enjoyed regularly entertaining audiences across Wales, and at many festivals and venues in England, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Globe Theatre, The Sage and Birmingham Symphony Hall.
Concert tours have taken them to Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland and Portugal, as well as eight tours around Australia, plus New Zealand, Tasmania, Hong Kong and Singapore.
In terms of competition, the choir has won the male voice choir competition at the National Eisteddfod a number of times, and has won the male voice choir competition at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod four times.
The members come mainly from Llanuwchllyn, Bala, and Dolgellau, but with a good many who travel to rehearsals in Llanuwchllyn Village Hall from further afield every Thursday night.
Of course, some of the members come from the Denbighshire area, including Sion Eilir Roberts and Ellis Jones, who enjoyed particular success at the National Eisteddfod in Tregaron in the summer of 2022.
The choir also includes a number of soloists who have the National Eisteddfod’s prestigious Blue Riband award over the years such as Tom Evans (Gwanas), Trebor Lloyd Evans, Steffan Prys Roberts and Erfyl Tomos Jones.
The same as many other choirs across Wales, the choir had a break due to Covid-19 between 2020 and 2022 but, now, the 2023 diary is filling up, with concerts in Cydweli, Milford Haven, Caernarfon, Chelmsford and Machynlleth already planned.
The March 3 concert starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets are available from Ruthin's Siop Elfair (01824 702575), Denbigh's Siop Clwyd and the Old Courthouse, priced at £12 apiece.
