RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 2,835 prime hoggets to £141 / 320.5ppk and 348 ewes to £170.
Prime hoggets (auctioneer-Elfor Morris):
A very good show of 2,824 hoggs forward on the day with a little bit more resistance in the trade.
All weight categories were slightly less money on the week.
Vendors of root lambs starting to market as it seems that the store hoggs have benefited from the recent spell of good weather.

RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 1,420 prime hoggets to £130 / 260ppk and 519 ewes to £120.
Prime hoggets (auctioneer-Rich Lloyd):
A big Friday entry of what had been a slipping trade during the week.
On a positive note, demand is there but a slight adjustment in price.
No change if not a bit sharper at the lighter end with 422 super lights and lights forward in the entry.
A total of 550 standards at 220ppk, with only 192 mediums in the entry at 230ppk.
A shedful of Welsh lambs on offer with well finished lambs well sold on the day.
The average weight was 35.3kg, with the SQQ at 222.8p/kg.

Store cattle (auctioneer-Rich Lloyd):
The trade certainly invited numbers with another big February show of 385 store cattle on the day.
The trade certainly needed to be seen to be believed!
A total of 133 heifers forward with an overall average of £1,070.98.
Top price of £1,670 went to T & I Ponsonby, Bodsuran, selling a 12 month Char.

A total of 98 steers forward with an overall average of £1,402.35!
Top price of £1,960, twice, went to W Owen & Partners, Accre Hall selling a 21 month Lim with others in his consignment ranging from £1,700 to £1,880.

A big show of 50 barren cows forward with the trade as buoyant as ever.
A top price, for an 81 month Hereford weighing 1,080kg, of £1,900.80p went to Sion Roberts, Porth y Post.
Top price per kilo went to RL & G Davies, Bwlch Grianog, at 253ppk for a 97 month Lim weighing 635kg.
