THE owners of an award-winning ice cream shop in Ruthin were invited to 10 Downing Street to celebrate St David’s Day.
Anna and David Taylor, the directors of Chilly Cow Ice Cream, joined other Welsh business owners, charity workers and entrepreneurs in a tour of the Prime Minister’s official residence.
Chilly Cow’s popular ice cream is made on the Taylor family farm near Ruthin, where David and his father Jim have a herd of Brown Swiss Cows, whose delicious, fresh milk is used in every batch.
Their visit to Downing Street included a showcase of their business, discussing farming and ice cream while providing samples of creamy goodness.

The couple even met Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murthy, adding they were “privileged” to be invited.
“We exhibited to about 120 guests and gave samples and talked all things ice cream and farming,” said Anna.
“We had the pleasure of being alongside seven other well-known Welsh small businesses too.
“The highlight of the day was meeting the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy, who were incredibly friendly and interested and engaged to hear about our business and farm.
“All in all an amazing opportunity to speak with other businesses from Wales and show what wonderful produce Wales has to offer.

“We felt privileged to have been invited and thankful for the kind welcome from everyone at Downing Street.”
Chilly Cow won the Countryside Alliance Award in the ‘food and drink’ category, winning the Welsh regional final at the Senedd in January.
The couple are “excited” to be back in London this May, where they will compete against other regional winners at the national final, to be held at the House of Lords.
Their ‘Honesty Box’ shop, which sells ice cream and other products all year round, can be found at Stryt Fawr Farm, Llanychan, Ruthin.
