A NEWLY created Vale of Clwyd choir can get into tune thanks to the generosity of a music charity, which has offered its support for the investment of a new piano - less than 24 hours following an appeal.
Denbighshire Musical Cooperative contacted Côr NantClwyd following their Go Fund Me on-line campaign was launched kindly requesting financial support to purchase a new piano for their accompaniment.
“We discussed the issue at our choir rehearsal on Monday night,” explained Angharad Rees, choir administrator.
“As we have only been established since October, we have been rehearsing at Neuadd Llandyrnog, because of the large space available as the response has been amazing.
"We have around 100 singers attending our SATB choir every Monday evening.
“One of our first performances will be at Gŵyl Rhuthun in July, and as this is an outdoor event, we will need our own piano.
"We launched a Go Fund Me campaign on Monday evening, and by the following day Denbighshire Musical Cooperative made contact with us and agreed to support us!”

Alaw Llwyd Owen, Côr NantClwyd conductor, added: “We have been blown away by the generosity of the cooperative.
"It will make a huge difference to our pianist, Dawn Wilkes, being able to use our very own piano, and move with us, wherever we perform.
"We are extremely grateful to them for their kindness.
“The choir for over 30-year-olds has been established as a mixed choir and we encourage anyone keen to sing, to join us.
"The emphasis is definitely on coming together, socialising and enjoying the health and well-being benefits associated with singing.
"I am delighted with the choir’s progress and the support from the members and the committee, who support me with the work of conducting the choir.”
Heather Powell, head of service at Denbighshire Music Cooperative, said: “We are delighted to support Côr NantClwyd with this fantastic electric piano which we have purchased and gifted to the choir.
“As the schools music service in Denbighshire, we always try to work in partnership with community music groups where we can, safeguarding the future of music in the county.
“As a service we are always mindful of the wellbeing and mental health benefits singing brings to people's lives.
"These past few years we have all been through a lot with the Covid-19 pandemic and ensembles and choirs have suffered as a result.
"It is therefore so exciting to see a new, emerging local choir and we wholeheartedly hope the piano will support the choir for many years to come.
“The choir already has a huge numbers of members; many are teachers we work with, parents of our pupils, and friends of Denbighshire Music Cooperative. We look forward to sharing a stage with the choir in the future and further inspiring our pupils to the value of music and the joy of singing together.
“I would like to take this opportunity to wish the choir every success in the future, we cannot wait to hear you now!”
