A COMMUNITY came together for a fitting send-off for a Wrexham AFC fan who bravely fought a brain tumour.
Maria Edwards, from Llangollen, sadly died in May - aged just 34. She had courageously battled a brain tumour since November 2019.
Her parents, Mervyn and Olga, recently paid a touching tribute to her following her passing.
As a testament to her character and popularity, around 200 people attended Maria's funeral on Tuesday at Wrexham Crematorium.
Mervyn said: "It was terrific. We had Proud Mary by Tina Turner and the red wall was dancing in the Crem, and it continued in the Bull (Inn) in Llangollen.
"It didn't feel like a funeral, more a celebration of Maria."

Maria's sister, Lindsey Dalmeny, said: "We couldn’t get hold of Wrexham shirts anywhere so I had some mock T-shirts made at a local print shop with Maria’s nickname and her favourite catchphrase on the back."
She added: "Everyone in the pub got up to sing and dance to ‘Proud Mary’ which was the song Maria had requested for the end of her funeral service. That was a real highlight of the day for me - everybody who was there joined in."
"I have never experienced anything like it. Maria was such a sociable person with a huge group of friends and that tribute was so fitting for her. It will be Maria’s song forever now."
