RUTHIN author and poet Patricia Sumner has had five children’s books published by a North Wales educational publisher.

Initially, Pat self-published her first book called ‘Who is Fairy Nuff?’ and was delighted that people enjoyed it.

The book caught the attention of Dr Graham Lawler of Hamilton-Vale Publishing, who asked Pat if a series of books for children, along with worksheets and activities, would be a possibility.

After a lot of hard work, and the help of talented artists Jim Algar, Elysia Lloyd-Jones, Ana Katherine, and Andrew Sumner, the books are now in print.

Pat has been invited to read them during Ruthin Festival Week. She is also visiting local schools to read some of the stories to children and to carry out creative writing activities with them.

The five books are The Litter-Skitter, Who is Fairy Nuff?, The Wild and Wonderful World, The Vitamin Rap, and Melangell’s Hare

The Litter-Skitter is an entertaining read with its catchy rhymes teaches children about the importance of caring for the environment.

Who is Fairy Nuff?, a funny story and play on words, is one which children will enjoy reading this book aloud and attempting the tongue-twisters.

In The Wild and Wonderful World, Pat has taken an Australian Aboriginal / First Nation ‘Dreamtime’ creation story and told it in a new and captivating way.

The Vitamin Rap is a collection of poems, limericks, raps and even a tongue-twisting macarena, teaching children to take responsibility for their own health and fitness.
