A free Poetry Evening is to be held at Ruthin Library on Thursday (June 29) with the hopes of showcasing the talents of local poets, as part of Gwyl Rhuthun Festival.
During the event, poet and author Pat Sumner will also be launching her latest book entitled The promise of Dawn.
The poetry evening will run from 7pm until 9pm, with the first half of the evening concentrating on the book launch, before a short refreshment break.
The rest of the evening will then focus on the poetry readings, with the local poets of the area showcasing some of their work through a series of short readings.
Attendees are not required to read their own work, and can come along to simply listen to the poetry.
Councillor Emrys Wynne, Lead Member for Welsh Language, Culture & Heritage said: “Wales is known for its famous poets, and this is a chance for the poets of Denbighshire to showcase their talents.
"This is a free event, and will also include an exciting book launch. I would urge the poetry fans of Ruthin and surrounding areas to come along to Ruthin Library and participate”.
If local poets would like to enquire about taking part, a slot can be reserved by phoning Ruthin Library on 01824 705274.
