A RUTHIN primary school has been praised for the “excellent teaching environment” it provides for its pupils.

Last week, Clwyd West MS Darren Millar visited Ysgol Borthyn to meet with headteacher Teleri Llwyd-Jones and staff, along with Cllr Anne Roberts, Mayor of Ruthin, who is also a governor at the school.

He was given a tour of the ‘Voluntary Controlled Church in Wales’ school, where the children showed him their prayer garden, he met with staff, visited the different classrooms, and was also treated to a rendition of the school song by talented youngsters from Years 5 and 6.

Commenting afterwards, Mr Millar said: “It was an absolute pleasure to visit Ysgol Borthyn where I received a very warm welcome from both the pupils and staff.

“It was good to have a tour of the school and to find out more about the excellent teaching environment they are providing to all years.

“The children were well-mannered and inquisitive, and I very much enjoyed being in their company.

“The performance of the school song by the youngsters from Years 5 and 6 was extremely impressive - the school certainly has some talented youngsters in its midst.

“During my visit, I also met with pupils of the school Senedd who gave me a grilling, asking an array of interesting questions about my role in the Welsh Parliament.

“It was evident from my visit that the headteacher and teaching staff are doing an excellent job at this school, and I thank them all for providing such a first-rate educational experience for all pupils.

“Parents can certainly rest assured that their children are is very capable and safe hands at Ysgol Borthyn.”
