The play is hosted in partnership by the DVSC, Denbighshire County Council and Denbighshire Age Friendly Communities.

Over the Garden Fence follows the story of Annabelle and her Gran, Dolly.

Annabelle and the audience are taken on a nostalgic journey through Dolly’s life, sharing memories of happiness, sorrow and joy.

Over the Garden Fence is a fast paced, uplifting, and comical exploration into family, life and relationships that promotes an awareness of dementia to all audiences.

The performance is aimed at initiating inter-generational conversations about dementia and engaging audiences in the discussion of not only dementia, but the importance of the individual behind the diagnosis.

Councillor Elen Heaton, Lead Member for Health and Social Care said: “Dementia awareness is extremely important as it affects many people’s lives each day.

"I am very glad to see that this free performance is visiting Denbighshire, as it offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into both the diagnosis and the day-to-day life of living with dementia.

"This event can help us take significant strides towards creating a more compassionate and inclusive community for individuals and families impacted by dementia.”

Louise Harris from Haylo Theatre said: “We are passionate about providing an emotional education on the subject of dementia.

"We see Theatre as a wonderful tool to bring people together in a shared experience, which we hope can challenge preconceptions and generate conversations.”
