A WREXHAM girl who lost her little sister to a brain tumour last year has celebrated getting 'amazing' GCSE results. 

Paige Hodgkiss, from Rhostyllen, got her results yesterday (August 24) after enduring the toughest of years imaginable. 

In December, her little sister, Aria, tragically lost her brave fight with a brain tumour - aged just four. 

Paige, who attends Ysgol Dinas Bran in Llangollen, said: "It's been a very difficult year after losing Aria. But, I had to keep working hard. I am over the moon with my results. I'm excited to see what the future will hold."

She got a mixture of As, Bs and Cs and will now be going on to Sixth Form to study Art, Design and Technology, Maths and Physics.

Paige's mum, Melanie, expressed pride at her daughter's achievements. 

"I am super proud of Paige. Even though the last year has been very tough on us all, she has done amazing in her GCSE's. I am so proud of her and all my children."

Aria's story captured the hearts of people across Wrexham and beyond, and caught the eye of Wrexham AFC's star co-owners, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

She bravely fought bravely fought diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) - a tumour of the brain stem which was diagnosed on the day of her third birthday. 

Her family celebrated an early Christmas in November 2022 - knowing that there was a tragic chance Aria wouldn't make it to December 25.

She passed away on December 1.
