RUTHIN Gaol has seen record high attendances since its re-opening earlier in the year, with over 7,000 attendees coming through the historic doors so far.

The Gaol reopened on April 1 after two years of flood renovation works took place.

The basement of the Gaol has now been restored, revealing the magnificence of the original brickwork.

A new cell has also been developed, telling the story of the prisoners who were transported to Australia from Ruthin Gaol.

Following the record season, the Gaol will now be able to re-open its cell doors for a special Halloween event for first time in four years.
