Llangollen woman fined after dogs foul on football pitch

The case of Frances Woolf, of Gesail Y Mynnydd in Llangollen, took place at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Thursday.

She allowed two of her dogs to foul on a football pitch close to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, between Trevor and Froncysyllte. 

The fouling was witnessed by a councillor, who then reported the matter along with photographs and car registration number to Wrexham Council's Enforcement Team.

Woolf was fined £150 and ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge, as well as £1,207 council costs.

Cllr Mark Pritchard, council leader who has responsibility for Enforcement across the county borough, said: "There is no doubt that dog fouling without picking up is one of the most unpleasant and anti-social acts that residents complain about. 

"I am extremely grateful to the councillor who reported it, to the officers who brought the action and to the courts for ruling in favour of the council.

"I hope this fine and costs will be a warning and deterrent to irresponsible dog owners in the future and they take heed and pick up after their dog has fouled, as we will not hesitate to prosecute those who don’t."

Not picking up after dogs have fouled is enforceable under the Public Spaces Protection Order which covers the whole of the county borough.
