A FLINTSHIRE pub which was saved from demolition is reopening its doors this weekend.

The Packet House, in Greenfield, is reopening on Saturday (December 16). Last year, a planning application to demolish the pub to make way for houses was rejected by Flintshire Council.

After this, the site was placed on the market and bought by Cyrilsons Properties Ltd. The company has continued its use as a pub - with it being managed by Siobhan Inskip.

She said: "Opening The Packet House was a pub was not the initial plan, however hearing how loved and missed the pub was decision was made to give it go and see if we can make it work and do all we can to make it the heart of Greenfield like it once was.

"The Packet House is a community pub and we welcome any events, groups or parties and in the new year our dining/lounge area will be serving food."

She added: "I will do all I can to make this pub a success but we need the community's support to keep The Packet House going. Can’t wait to see you all."

Some of the work on the pub that has taken place includes a new roof, internal and external building works, new lighting, double glazed windows, heating and toilets, as well as the repainting of the bar.

After news of the pub's reopening was shared on social media, dozens of people commented expressing their excitement. 

One person said: "Can't wait for you to open." Another added: "Well done and I can't wait to walk back in there."

Another said: "Can't wait, we have missed this place so much and thank you."
