MULTI-talented star Amber Davies of stage and screen has not only made her Dancing on Ice debut - but has been saved from the first skate off.

Amber, of Denbigh, said in her introduction: "My name is Amber Davies. I am best known for winning Love Island in 2017. I have gone on to perform in many West End shows and tours including Back to The Future, Bring it On, 9 to 5, and I am currently in Pretty Woman: The Musical."

When first stepping on the ice and meeting skating legends and judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher (Chris) Dean, Amber, a former Ysgol Glan Clwyd pupil in St Asaph, said "I thought I'd be better than this."

She added that it was a "huge reality check". 

Her aim is to beat ex-boyfriend Kem Cetinay who appeared on Dancing on Ice in 2018.

The 27-year-old danced in the live split premiere to Kylie Minogue - Hold On To Now with Canadian dance partner Simon Proulx Sénécal.

Diversity dance troupe leader Ashley Banjo and Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse scored the skating couple 6.5 whilst Jayne and Chris both gave a 6 giving a total of 25.

Denbigh's mum Susan was in the audience along with Amber's nana. 

Chris said the performance "flowed well over the ice". Jayne said she loved the "beautiful positions" and praised the couple's spiral. 

Oti called the performance "stunning" and said it had a "great flow" whilst Ashley said he thought Amber had "all the components for greatness".

Amber ended up second on the leaderboard. Former Coronation Street Ryan Thomas and pro partner Amani Fancy topped the leaderboard with a score of 26.5. Ricky Hatton is bottom with 12.5 points.

She was the first one to be saved when the results of the public vote were revealed by hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern.

Amber told viewers that she "hadn't slept for a week" ahead of tonight's debut.

Six celebrities took to the ice tonight.

Last year, Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson, who was paired with professional skater Olivia Smart, was crowned Dancing On Ice champion after beating reality star Joey Essex and Vanessa Bauer to first place.

Next week, one of tonight's contestants will have to "battle for survival" in the first skate off.
