TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT is underway on the A5 and A483 today (January 20) in preparation for Storm Isha.

The Met Office has warned that the storm will bring strong winds for all from Sunday (January 21) and heavy rain for some.

Amber and yellow severe weather warnings have been issued as many places are likely to see gusts of 50-60mph, even inland.

Near coasts there will be widespread gusts of 60-70mph, possibly reaching 80 mph in a few places.

Traffic Wales is today working on traffic management at both Ceiriog (A5) and the Dee Viaduct (A483) to prepare for the high winds ahead.

Speed restrictions of 30mph will be in place and lane closures will be enforced on the A483 near junction one at Ruabon.

A statement from Traffic Wales read: "We're currently arranging traffic management on the #A5 Ceiriog & #A483 Dee Viaduct to prepare for high winds tomorrow due to #StormIsha There will be lane closures in place on the A483 prior to J1 Ruabon to support a potential full closure."

They added: "The traffic management needs to be set out now while winds are lower. A full closure is required due to wind speeds as a precautionary measure. Please note that due to the landslip on B5605 Newbridge the diversion route has been extended.

"ADVANCE WARNING Strong winds are forecasted tomorrow due to #StormIsha which could affect #A5 Ceiriog & #A483 Dee Viaducts. There’s a 30mph speed restriction. Plan ahead before you travel and keep up to date with Traffic Wales for the latest information.".
