DANCING on Ice star Amber Davies fought for her place in the competition after making a heartfelt tribute to her mum.

Viewers were left in shock as Denbigh's Amber ended up in the skate-off after skating to 'Mama' by the Spice Girls during this week's Dancing on Ice on Sunday, February 18.

The fan favourite achieved a total of 33 for her performance. She was third on the leader board.

She went head-to-head in the skate off with former Eastenders actor Ricky Norwood and professional partner Annette Dytrt.

Amber was saved by all four judges meaning Ricky was the latest celebrity to leave the competition.

Guest judge American figure skater Johnny Weir said to West End star: "I still think you can win this whole damm thing."

Prior to her main performance, Amber, a former Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St Asaph pupil, was shown sitting with her mum Susan who she described as an "absolute Wonder Woman."

She said: "It is personal skate this week and so I'm doing Mama from the Spice Girls.

"I picked this song because on Mother's Day, every single year, my sister [Jade] and I would make my mum breakfast in bed and we would play this song as we walked into the room."

Susan revealed that she would have sweets and cold coffee!

Amber, a former member of TiC (Theatre in the Community) drama group in Rhyl, said that she and her mum are very close. Amber's pro-partner Simon Proulx-Sénécal is also close to his mum.

He said: "I don't want to cry."

Amber admitted: "It is going to be tough."

Amber added: "I know I have been a pain in the arse at times but my mum has just been my rock throughout every small moment.

"She is an absolute Wonder Woman."

"Keep working on it."

Christopher said: "This was a bit more exposing of your ability.

"We want you to do all these things to stay in the competition."
