A WOMAN from Denbigh took home the jackpot on the popular ITV game show The Chase.
Annmaria Jones, from near Nantglyn, Denbigh, claimed the prize in front of millions on March 1, after recording the show and meeting presenter Bradley Walsh last year.
Mrs Jones and two fellow contestants took home the £17,000 prize, defeating chaser Shaun Wallace by one question in the final chase.
A retired police officer, Mrs Jones also runs the Triumph Owners’ Motor Cycle Club branch in North Wales, but faced an agonising wait to see herself on television.
“We actually filmed this in January 2023, so we had a long wait for it to be aired," she told the Denbighshire Free Press.
“At last our episode is aired, as a team we have kept in contact on WhatsApp for the past year eagerly awaiting this.
“We have had to keep quiet, not letting anyone know how we did - it was a great day and we were so well looked after.”

Mrs Jones, 65, said that watching herself on the show was more difficult than appearing on it, having forgotten some of the questions.

She added: “It was a lovely morning filming the programme, everyone was friendly and helpful, and my team mates were great.
“To be honest, I think it was more nerve racking to watch it than the filming of it.
“I had forgotten some of the questions, so it was a bit of a surprise to hear them again.
“I am so glad we got the four push backs and I got Joanne Lumley right.”
