The Trefnant WI celebrated the life of a woman whose death “has left a huge void”.
Trefnant WI said: “On Monday, March 25, we said a sad goodbye to Lilian Cowen, a dear friend to many and past president of Trefnant WI for over 10 years up to 2015.
“She ruled us with her gavel and good humour. Her organisational skills were second to none, and she effortlessly organised the annual programme, speakers, celebrations and outings.
“She was president at the time of Trefnant WI’s centenary in 2015 and, in the same year, attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace in honour of the centenary of the WI.
“We have missed her company in recent years when she was not so well and unable to join us.
“She has left a huge void in WI, the village and wider community that will be hard to fill.
“She deserves to rest in peace having given her best whilst she was able.”
