A MAN has been fined after stealing beers from a Mold shop.
Jack Dermott, of Well Street in Ruthin, appeared at Mold Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The 28-year-old admitted that on April 11, at Elm Drive, he stole a crate of Stella Artois beer belonging to Best One Stores.
Prosecutor Justin Espie told the court: "He entered the Best One store highly intoxicated and didn't pay for the Stella beers.
"He left but he was stopped by shop staff so it does appear the items were recovered."
Alex MacKenzie, defending, told the court: "He apologises; he'd been drinking more than usual due to a recent bereavement.
"He was going to go back in the next day to pay for them because his card kept getting declined.

"But he accepts he then proceeded to steal them.
"They were relatively low value goods and he is in receipt of universal credit."
Ms MacKenzie asked that any financial imposition be deducted from her client's benefits.
The court handed down a £40 fine and ordered the defendant to pay £85 costs and a £16 victim surcharge.
