THE roads surrounding the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct near Llangollen have been closed due to a police incident concerning the safety of a man this afternoon (May 30).
North Wales Police have urged motorists to avoid the area for the time being while it is dealt with.
At 3.21pm, a police statement read: “Please be aware that the roads surrounding the Llangollen Pontcysyllte aqueduct [are] currently closed whilst officers deal with an incident.
“We will update once the roads have re-opened. Thank you for your patience.”
A North Wales Police spokesperson added shortly after 5pm: "We are currently responding to an incident concerning the safety of a man in the Froncysyllte area.
"Officers are in attendance, alongside colleagues from the Welsh Ambulance Service, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and National Police Air Service.
"The roads surrounding the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct are closed and we are kindly asking people to avoid the area for the time being, and take alternative routes where possible."
