Closing the show Adams dedicated his final song Straight From The Heart to his 96-year-old mother Jane saying; “She’s the one that gave me a chance to be the rock and roll delinquent that I am today, and I’m grateful to her for every minute of it. She would love to be here tonight. You know, she would have just loved it. She’s got a T-shirt that says, I’m with the band."

Adams added: "You’ve been a fantastic audience. I didn’t even know this town existed a month ago. Don’t ask me to pronounce it now because I think I’ve kind of forgotten.”

Opening the night was electro-pop singer-songwriter Cassyette.

The headline shows are part of a new partnership between Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and Live Nation promoters Cuffe and Taylor.

The likes of Simple Minds, Sir Tom Jones, Jess Glynne, Kaiser Chiefs, Madness, Paloma Faith and Nile Rodgers will all perform this week during what should be an unforgettable summer in Llangollen.
