ROCK band The Undertones, two-tone ska group The Selecter, and folk singer and multi-instrumentalist Seth Lakeman are among the acts to feature at this year’s Llangollen Fringe Festival.

The 27th edition of the festival takes place from July 5-13 and will feature a range of shows, with comedy, music, dance, workshops and more all on the bill.

Seth Lakeman will perform at Llangollen Town Hall on July 8 (doors 7.30pm, tickets £26).

A 2005 Mercury Music Prize nominee, he has released 11 albums, with 2024 marking the 20th anniversary of his record, Kitty Jay.

His latest release was 2021’s Make Your Mark, while he has since recorded on Van Morrison’s 2022 album, Moving on Skiffle, and he has previously also worked and toured with Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant.

The Undertones are bringing the tour of their first live album to Llangollen when they play the town hall on July 7 (doors 7.30pm, tickets £26).

The band emerged from Derry in 1976, the result of five friends (John O’Neill, Damian O’Neill, Feargal Sharkey, Billy Doherty and Michael Bradley) learning how to play basic rock and roll.

In next 10 years, they would score chart hits such as Here Comes The Summer, Jimmy Jimmy, and Teenage Kicks.

The Selecter, meanwhile, play Llangollen Town Hall on July 10 (doors 7.30pm, tickets £25).

The band is led by frontwoman Pauline Black OBE and co-fronted by original member Arthur “Gaps” Hendrickson, with original drummer Charley “Aitch” Bembridge.

Pauline is one of few women in the two-tone scene - often referred to as the Queen of Ska.

They released their latest album, Human Algebra, in April 2023, supported Blur at Wembley lat summer, and also performed live at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony in Birmingham.

Tickets for all of these shows are available now via the festival’s website.
