A NEW Government-funded scheme to help adults with learning disabilities access training and work opportunities is launching this month in Ruthin.
Project Aspire is supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and will run until November this year. It will work with partner organisations to offer courses and tailored employment pathways for anyone aged 16 or over with complex learning needs.
Operated by ReSource CIC, a charity focused on making a positive impact through creating work based opportunities, Project Aspire will initially launch with a breakfast event from 8am-11am on Wednesday, August 7 for businesses who want to partner with the project and offer placements or training.
That will be followed by the main launch event at noon on Thursday, August 15, where individuals who want to take part can find out more and register.
Both events will take place at the Earth Café in Ruthin's Crown House.
ReSource CIC Director and founder Janine Cusworth said Program Aspire would create personal pathways to employment for adults who are furthest away from the job market.
"Everyone has different skills and interests," she said. "So, for the next few months, Project Aspire will offer free support for anyone with complex learning needs interested in learning new skills, gaining confidence, making social connections, exploring interests or trying something new.
"It will provide courses and tailored pathways to employment. Aspire Keyworkers will get to know each individual and complete a person-centred plan covering interests, skills and additional support needs.
"We are also offering two individuals the opportunity to train to become peer mentors to others. We want ReSource to be dynamic, helping people upskill and progress through fresh, accessible opportunities with employers using holistic and bespoke methods."
Opportunities that will be available from day one of the project include - customer service, sorting donations and stock management at ReSource Scrap Store, baking, cooking, serving customers and cleaning at Earth Café and planting, harvesting and outdoor maintenance at Cae Dai Denbigh Community Gardens.
